A Moveable Feast-Blog Post

Scott Fitzgerald
“Many strange things happened with Scott but this one I was never able to forget. ”(50, Chapter 17). Fitzgerald is a very strange and fractious person. At the very first time that Hemingway met him, he got drunk and almost pass out. And according to his friend, Dunc, Fitzgerald gets drunk like that a lot. Besides being an serious alcoholic, with further contact, it turns out that Fitzgerald is also very alcoholic and fractious. In the bar, he asked Hemingway a very private question and dug really deep into it even Hemingway already showed unwilling of giving an answer. Also, during the trip to Lyon, not only Fitzgerald showed up late, but also after they met, he sent Hemingway everywhere to serve him and complained about everything. Just as Ernest Hemingway described in his book, “Scott was a man then who looked like a boy with a face...” (50, Chapter 17), Scott does look like a boy, and he is a boy mentally who does whatever crosses his mind but also with great talent.

Place worth visit
In A Moveable Feast, the place I would like to visit is the Shakespeare and Company. The description at the beginning of the chapter really makes that place sound sweet and attractive. According to Hemingway, “...this was a warm, cheerful place with a big stove in winter, tables and shelves of books, new books in the window, and photographs on the wall of famous writers both dead and living.” (13, Chapter 4) It seems to be a comfortable place for reading or just simply relaxing and enjoying moments of peace. The owner, Sylvia, her kindand friendly image also did a great job making the bookshop a even more lively and pleasant place to go.
